Typical Accountabilities:
• Either manages an entire area in a country or small region, or acts as the senior expert in one or more of these areas

• Develops, or uses expertise to support the development of, strategies and objectives in area of responsibility, and ensures these are aligned to broader AstraZeneca goals and objectives

• May act as the most senior expert resource in one or more areas for own country or region

• Maintains a high degree of understanding and awareness of internal and external developments that could affect a specific sub-family and the Research and Development function, and shares this with team members as appropriate

• Builds networks with other teams and external stakeholders to learn about new developments, leverage opportunities and share best practices

• May performance manage a senior management team, setting goals and objectives, providing appropriate development opportunities and carrying out effective succession planning

• May manage or support complex and cutting edge projects to improve processes or develop and introduce new technologies and approaches at the national, regional or global level

• Ensures that own work and work of team is compliant with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Safety Health and Environment (SHE) standards and all other relevant internal and external regulation and standards

• Approximate number of people managed in total (all levels) - 10 – 30
• Grandfather (manager of a manager)

What is the global remit? (how many countries will the role operate in?):
• 2 or 3 countries at a minimum of 40% of time

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Essential: Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in relevant scientific discipline; Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry; Excellent communication skills; Project management experience; Knowledge of relevant legislation and developments in the Pharmaceutical industry
• Desirable: PhD in scientific discipline; Expert reputation within the business and industry; Extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory developments

• External (to AZ): External Scientific community; External technology providers

Compensation Pay Range:

210,728.00 - 316,092.00 USD Annual

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position is outlined above. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
